So after the initial leak on FFXIVCore.com (thanks Aynsley!), the official site was updated with some basic information on the character creator and the customization available. Hooray!! This is definately my favorite part of any MMO and with how gorgeous the game world seems to be it would have been a real shame if the choices had been slim, FFXI's character creation left a lot to desire with their pre-made faces and barely any choice in hair.
The creator is said to be simple yet comprehensive and that the possibilities are almost endless... Which looks fantastic on paper, but to me the statement contradicts itself, is it simple or is it limitless? Perhaps these two things don't have to be mutually exclusive? But usually in my experience the more powerful the character creator the more difficult it is to create something nice or even what you want. Unless you are like me and willing to sit there for days learning the creator and making 10 characters, deleting them and starting over until you finally get something you can live with and even love. :)
But anyway, it's been confirmed you can select all these things when making a character:
- Race and sex, well we figured that much.
- Free choice of hair style and color.
- Eye shape and color are adjustable.
- Nose and mouth shape are also adjustable.
- Skin color.
- Facial scars and tattoos to choose from.
Things that are not confirmed but may be adjustable, thanks Aya from ffxivcore.com: (Don't come tell me I lied if this doesn't happen...)
- Age
- Bust and waist size
- And this is my own guess: height slider.
